For over 50 years, Western Nephrology has been proud to care for individuals with kidney disease in the Denver west and north metro area. With offices in Lakewood, Arvada, Westminster, Lafayette and Longmont, Western Nephrology’s team of 14 board certified nephrologists and 13 highly skilled Advanced Practitioners work together to provide convenient, timely and high-quality care.

 

We work collaboratively with primary care physicians, surgeons, hospitals and transplant centers to assure optimal outcomes in nephrology. We work with individuals to understand their health care goals, educate them on treatment options and implement an appropriate treatment plan.  For those with progressive kidney disease our goals are simple and reflect what we would seek for ourselves and our loved ones: Transplant first. early transplant listing can hopefully avoid dialysis altogether or shorten time on dialysis while awaiting transplant. For eligible individuals, transplant is the treatment of choice for kidney failure, yielding both the best quality of life and life expectancy.

 

If dialysis is needed, we encourage home dialysis as the first and best option for most of our patients. Home dialysis provides individuals with the most freedom in terms of diet, lifestyle and schedule.  For those who pursue in center hemodialysis our teams of nurses and technicians provide highly skilled care.  For some, due to other serious illness or frailty, dialysis may not align with their overall goals of care. For these individuals, we work with them and their families to provide medical management without dialysis.
